The processing and the ENGRAVING PROOF, which you approve before production, are carried out in France, just like the engraving, that means control after production and NO SURPRISE !
We accept .jpeg .pdf .png .pdf .dxf .dwg .ai and photo of your hand drawing !

Engraving isn't the problem; our tools can produce details down to 0.08 mm, which is below your visual perception.
There are two issues to address: readability and ease of marking.

1 - Readability

First, you test the size with a cut-out print of your design, even roughly cut, on your substrate.
This gives you two visual cues: first, the visibility/readability at the desired distance, and second, the marking-to-object dimension ratio.

2 - Graphic design rules for legible and easier branding

- A line drawing is preferable; reproducing a portrait or landscape photo is not satisfactory.

- We transform your color logos. It's best to have black graphics on a white background, without grayscale, vector graphics (when you zoom in on the image, the lines are always smooth, without visible pixels), or high resolution > 500 dpi.

- Characters are at least 3 mm high, 4 mm if your audience is senior citizens.

- The space between lines must not be less than 4/10 mm.

- Use consistent line thicknesses.

- Except for leather embossing, avoid solid colors, especially those with knocked-out text or drawings.
If necessary, we will offer you an outline version of your graphics for easier branding. This is often more elegant and reveals the material.

Having said that, we include these points in the .pdf engraving voucher that you receive after ordering: the work is done for you, it is included in the price of your tool and you validate BEFORE engraving the metal: NO SURPRISE !

1 - Upload your file, and we'll handle everything from a photo sketch to a vector file and images.
Preparation fees are free.

2 - A PDF engraving proof is sent after your order (delivery time: 4-5 business days, excluding workshop closures). Based on your file uploaded via the cloud button on the product page, we will send you a PDF engraving proof for your tool's design approval. You're in control = NO SURPRISE !

3 - Production begins after your approval of the engraving proof (delivery time: 10-12 business days, excluding workshop closures (two weeks around August 15th and one week at the end of the year).
We use industrial CNC machines for the brass en EDM technology for stainless steel.

4 - Each tool is inspected; upon shipment, we will send you the final invoice by email with tracking information.

WOOD: Hot stamping with a brass block. If you have a large number of pieces to mark, choose an electric iron: here

LEATHER: Hot stamping with a brass block (we recommend a temperature-adjustable press: contact us): here

THICK LEATHER: Cold stamping (an engraved block mounted on a stamping stand): here

PLASTIC: Engraved brass block, electric iron, and power meter: contact us

FOOD MARKING: engraved block in stainless steel, on an electric iron if you have a lot of pieces to mark: here

POTTERY: brass engraved block on wooden handle, engraving depth 2 mm: here

▶︎ The standard engraving is 10-15/10 mm. This allows for greater finesse, provides good stability during striking, and prevents the engraving from breaking when struck too hard because the base of the engraving absorbs the impact.
You can choose deeper engravings up to 3 mm, particularly for softer metals: contact us !

▶︎ Hardening and tempering, which we systematically perform after engraving, provides optimum strength and durability.

▶︎ We use wireframe method. If your design is a square, we will not press into the surface of the square, which requires great force and risks breaking the punch, but rather draw its outline.

▶︎ For "soft" metals: gold, silver, brass, aluminum, etc., cold forging can be done up to 20 mm without too much difficulty. Hardening and tempering, which we systematically perform after engraving, ensures optimum strength and durability.

▶︎ We test hardened punches on aluminum/brass and, according to the instructions, on cold stainless steel.

▶︎ For other steels, particularly cutlery, we recommend hot stamping the material immediately after the furnace and before hardening.

▶︎ If marking with a hydraulic press, be careful not to leave the punch in contact with the hot part for too long, as this can cause annealing and reduce the punch's strength.
